This movie depicts an acute appendix being removed.  The thick stringy white material is pus on the surface of the appendix.  The end of the appendix is what becomes infected first due to an obstruction in the beginning portion where it is attached to the large intestine (cecum).  The instrument used to dissect the attachments to the appendix creates heat by vibrating rapidly.  The blue sutures are absorbable.  This movie is about 5 minutes long.
